Several important changes are taking effect in 2023 for anyone who uses public transport in Nice or on the French Riviera.

Changes on the Lignes d’Azur

For now, the price of a bus or tram ticket remains at €1.50 (due to increase mid-year) but service has been reduced slightly. Trams will start running slightly later and stop running a little earlier during the week.

Tram Line 1 now starts running at 4.25am from Henri Sappia and 5.10am from Hopital Pasteur. The last tramway leaves Hopital Pasteur at 1.35am Friday and Saturday (12.40am Sun-Thurs) and from Henri Sappia at 12.50am Friday and Saturday (11.50pm Sun-Thurs).

Tram Line 2 leaves CADAM to Port Lympia at 4:05am and leaves Airport Terminal 2 at 5:24am. The first departure from Port Lympia to CADAM is at 4:55am; to the Airport is at 4:45am. The last departure from CADAM to Port Lympia  is at 12:35am Saturday and Sunday  (11.35pm Mon-Fri). The last departure from Airport Terminal 2 is at 12:15am Friday and Saturday (11.55pm Sun-Thurs). The last departure from Port Lympia to CADAM is at 1:15am Fridays and Saturdays (12.35am Sun-Thurs); the last departure from Port Lympia to the Airport is  at 11:11pm Monday to Friday, 11.35pm Saturday, 11.05pm Sunday.

Tram Line 3 runs from Airport Terminal 2 to St Isidore, with a stop at Allianz Riviera (Stade), Nice’s football stadium. The line runs from around 6am to 9.15pm. From 9.26pm the line runs directly from Port Lympia to the airport and beyond. The last departure from Port Lympia is at 11pm Monday to Friday (11.20pm weekends). The final stop at Saint Isidore is right next to Nice’s new Ikea store.

The popular electric bus shuttle that circles from bd Gambetta to central Nice is no longer free. Sad. It’s now Line 99 and costs the usual €1.50 per ticket.

There are also a number of changes to Nice buses with some routes cancelled or consolidated and some with changes to their frequency. Look up the changes on the Lignes d’Azur website.

ZOU

Zou is the regional transport hub that’s in charge of intercity buses. They have just overhauled their pricing system (spoiler alert: it’s more expensive) and, for good measure, have re-numbered some popular regional buses.

Bus Changes

The 100 bus that connects Nice with Monaco and Menton is now bus 607 and goes only as far as Monaco. Board bus 608 in Monaco to get to Menton. Former bus 110 that connected Nice Airport with Monaco and Menton is now bus 80 while bus 210 from Nice Airport to Cannes is now bus 81.

Price Changes

The price of a bus ticket has jumped from €1.50 to €2.50 to bring the French Riviera more in line with prices in other regions. The price of €2.50 only applies to tickets purchased from the driver. Buying single tickets on the Zou app (available on Android and iPhone) costs only €2.10. Residents who use the bus regularly should consider a monthly pass that starts at €13 for 10 trips or a carnet of 10 trips for €14.70. Both options involve requesting a personal travel card from the Zou website that can be topped off. Occasional users or visitors will find it easier to take advantage of the group travel discount.  A group of three people pay €4.40; four people pay €5 and so on with a maximum of eight people who pay €8.40. This discount is only available if you buy from the driver.
