Summer is officially here and beaches are getting busy. So are jellyfish! Nice’s detested meduses have already started drifting into our coastal waters, striking anxiety into the heart of swimmers.

Although not dangerous, our jellyfish do sting and it can hurt when they do. But there are ways to avoid those pesky stings. With the arrival of summer, Nice’s private beach restaurants are highly in demand despite prices that have been climbing steadily. The cheapest place to rent a lounge chair and umbrella for the day is at Opera Plage which only charges €23. Hotel Amour Plage gets honorable mention for proposing a morning (9am to noon) at the beach for only €20. As for lunch, the brand new beach restaurant, Bocca Mar, offers a plat du jour for only €17; €23 if you add on either an entrée or dessert.
